baseballThe Wadsworth Grizzlies scored in every inning on their way to a 13-2 win Saturday afternoon against North Royalton in a game stopped after four-and-a-half innings by the run-rule.

Wadsworth is now undefeated at 3-0.

After North Royalton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Wadsworth came back to score six in the bottom of the frame. The Grizzlies added a single run in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth. North Royalton’s other run was scored in the top half of the third.

Wadsworth coach Greg Pickard said the offense got going early. “For us to come out and hit like that in the first inning was important I think. We only got three hits against Highland in our last game on Wednesday. To get the bats woken up was nice”.

Among the hitting heroes for the Grizzlies was catcher Craig Palidar with a two-run single in the third and Craig Byers with a two-run double in the fourth.

Right-hander Cameron Deemer went the first four innings and got the win. Left-hander Aaron George pitched the fifth inning to finish up.

Pickard was pleased with the job of his starting pitcher. “It was Cam’s first time. We got him a little late because he was a basketball player so we’re trying to build him up pitch count wise. His control was a little off compared here he’s normally at. But, he stayed in there”,

Wadsworth is back in Suburban League play on Tuesday when they take on the Revere Minutemen in a two-game series. Game one is at Revere at 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.
