pills, prescription drugsThis coming Saturday Morning, Wadsworth area residents will have an opportunity to dispose of expired, unused or unwanted prescription medications.

The Wadsworth Police Department, in conjunction with the Medina County Drug Task Foce and the Drug Enforcement Administration, will provide a safe way to dispose of these potentially dangerous drugs.

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday September 26th, an officer from the Wadsworth Police Department will be stationed outside the WPD Lobby to collect expired, unusued or unwanted drugs car side. Residents are advised to pull behind Wadsworth City Hall, 120 Maple Street, to the Police Lobby area where the officer will be on duty to collect those prescription drugs.

Wadsworth Safety Director Matt Hiscock says “the officer has been instructed not to accept liquids, needles or sharps for disposal. Only pills and patches will be accepted”.

The service is free and anonymous. No questions wil be asked.

Hiscock said “last year, several hundred pounds of unusued or unwanted prescription drugs was collected by Wadsworth Police”.
