Where is your ‘spot’?

The warmer temperatures here in Wadsworth beckon us out of doors.  We ride bikes, attend summer games, play outside with our families, skateboard, wash our cars, and go on vacation.  Here in northeast Ohio, we live for these next 4-5 months.  We’re un-fettered by sleet, ice, mounds of snow, and frigid winds.

But after the activities are done, where do you re-charge the batteries?  Where is your ‘me’ time?  Is it where you finish that book you’ve started in a quiet, reflective place?  Is it that designated corner of the porch or deck where you listen to the Indians?  Or is it simply a place on the front steps where you watch the sun set against the trees, signaling the end of another day?

Do you have a ‘spot’?

Perhaps your ‘spot’ is a place in a park that you enjoy.  Maybe it’s a drive you take or a familiar route that you choose while going for a run.

I like this chair.  It sits towards the setting sun, but it’s arranged in such a way that the glare doesn’t bother me.  I like the ‘golden hour’ when the sun begins to descend and it casts a golden haze on everything in its path.  Sometimes it only happens for an hour or less.  So when I see it beginning to happen, I find my ‘spot’ and I try to soak it in.

With the summer Holidays approaching, things will get busy.  But within the activities and responsibilities, try to find a locale where you can reflect on the day and appreciate everything in from of you.

I think you’ll find that designating a ‘spot’ during these magical Summer times will be a rewarding and energizing experience.

Hope you find your ‘spot’!
