No injuries after a fire broke out in our historic downtown district Tuesday morning.

The blaze erupted around midnight at The Sub Station located at 126 Main Street. The fire is five buildings south of our station and has apartments above the business.

Firefighters from several area department helped battle the fire.

Owners of The Sub Station posted this note on their Facebook page:

“No words can describe how we are feeling now. We want to send our deepest thanks to the Fire Stations of Wadsworth, Norton, Doylestown, Rittman, Copley and Sharon and Police Station of Wadsworth for your quick response and hard work, we are very fortunate to have such wonderful emergency response in our town! No injuries and that is what we have to be grateful for! We had a fire in our building over night that has done a lot of damage and we don’t know any more than that at this time. We have so appreciated all your kind words and thoughts and ask for continued prayers in this difficult time.”

A cause and damage estimate is not known at this time.

The investigation continues.
