wadsfallsThe Wadsworth Boys Basketball team ended their three-game losing streak and defeated the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers 61-49 Friday night at Wadsworth High School.

The Grizzlies grabbed a 17-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. Junior guard Christian Szalay had 7 first-period points to get Wadsworth rolling.

Wadsworth extended the lead to 31-18 at halftime as the Grizzlies outscored Cuyahoga Falls 14-7 in the second period.

The Grizzlies kept the pressure on the Black Tigers in the third quarter as they extended the lead to 17 points at the end of three at 47-30.

But, Wadsworth went cold in the fourth quarter and Cuyahoga Falls closed the gap to 52-43 midway through the period. But, junior guard Tony Hewitt went 4-for-4 from the free throw line coming down the stretch to ice the game for the Grizzlies.

Szalay led Wadsworth in scoring with 15 points. Hewitt added 14 and Jacob Justice added 10. Dion Davis led the Black Tigers in scoring with 15 points.

Wadsworth is now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Suburban League. Cuyahoga Falls is 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the SL.

The Grizzlies are back in action Tuesday night at home against North Royalton in a Suburban League game.
