great lakes medieval faireWe’re looking at another gorgeous weekend and that means tons of fun (and mostly free) things to do across northeast Ohio. The only problem you’ll have is deciding which events to attend 😉

At this weekend’s Build and Grow workshop at Lowe’s, kids can make their own Hawkeye’s Quinjet from the Avengers. The free fun begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Headland’s Beach Fest is this weekend and it’s a family-friendly celebration of wind, water and sand. The event is held rain or shine – and includes live music by area bands, acrobats, fire dancers, performance artists, and a fashion show. Watch three world champion sand sculptors compete for the title of “Ohio’s Master Sand Sculptor”. Parking and admission is free. The Kelly Miller Circus is in town and I’ve heard so many terrific things about this circus that my family and I will be catching a show! Can you believe it’ll be our first time ever going to a circus?! Come and be a part of the magic of a circus Saturday in Richfield Village and Sunday in Orrville. My family and I will also be heading to the Great Lakes Medieval Faire this weekend! It runs Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. through Aug. 16. Enjoy fantastic entertainment, food and fun that takes you back in time. This weekend’s theme is pirate invasion – arrghh! Salt life, mermaids, pirates and scallywags. The Lodi Sweet Corn Festival is also this weekend. CAMEO presents “West Side Story” at the Medina Performing Arts Center all weekend long. Medina High School grad Zack Pytel stars as Tony. The musical begins at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $15 at Medina Buehler’s and online: http://bit.ly/1TWkFzV.

The Peach Truck is also coming to town Saturday for its Freestone Peach Tour. The Cling Free Georgia Peaches are available only by the 1/2 Bushel (a 25 lb.) box for $39. They’re perfect for canning, eating and freezing. The Peach Truck will also have incredible recipes to take advantage of. The Northeast Ohio Live Steamers are hosting free miniature train rides Saturday from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Lester Rail Trail (3654 Lester Road, Medina (York Township). Hosted by the Medina County Park District, all ages are welcome.

The All American Soap Box Derby continues this weekend, with the World Championships at Derby Downs in Akron set for Saturday. Parking is free and admission is $5. Details: http://www.soapboxderby.org/derby-downs/events.aspx.

It’s the annual sail boat races — the Chippewa Lake Sailing Regatta is Saturday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Chippewa Lake Yacht Club (5878 Longacre Lane). Fifteen-plus Y Flyers from the U.S. and Canada will compete.  Enjoy the free event, popcorn and conversation at Chippewa Lake.
