splash padsMemorial Day weekend typically marks the beginning of the swim season. Check out these fantastic lists compiled by Northeast Ohio Family Fun on local outdoor water parks, beaches and splash parks (there are more than 40 in northeast Ohio) that will be open for your cooling pleasure over the next few months. Here’s the family fun happening around northeast Ohio this weekend:

Every Saturday, you can make and take a free project at Pat Catan’s. The craft fun happens from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Saturday is also Kids Day at the Cleveland Zoo. Games, interactive play and hands-on demonstrations, plus meet your favorite PBS characters, like Curious George and Clifford the Big Red Dog and more!

A fun fishing derby for kids is happening Saturday at Portage Lakes. Learn how to fish and have a chance to win prizes.

This weekend is also the grand opening party at Uniontown Community Park. Come celebrate the new playground on Saturday from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. The new park is located on Apollo Street NW.

For Memorial Day, there’s a free breakfast being served at the Wadsworth American Legion Post 170. Eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and more from 7 a.m. – 9 a.m.

After you eat breakfast at the Post, stick around for Wadsworth’s Memorial Day parade. It begins at the Post and follows a downtown route, ending at St. Mark’s Church.
