Three members of the Wadsworth Fire Department/EMS Unit recently received an award from Akron General Medical Center for saving the life of an accident victim.

Back in July, Wadsworth EMS responded to a motorcycle accident on I-76 east of Medina Line Road in the city of Norton’s jurisdiction. In transporting the victim, the Wadsworth EMS unit determined that the victim, who was suffering from multiple rib and back fractures needed to be transported to a Level One trauma center.

Akron General determined that medical procedures performed during the transport of the patient to the hospital saved his life. Akron General’s Trauma Team has awarded a Challenge Coin and a certificate of Appreciation to Wadsworth Fire Lieutenant Jason Lorton and firefighter/paramedics Curt Lauer and Andy Reid.
