WADSWORTH TENNIS SIGNComing up this weekend are the matches to determine Suburban League Champion in Boys Tennis. Action starts at 8:30 Saturday morning at the 12 tennis courts at Medina High School.

There will be plenty of tennis on the agenda when you consider eight schools, seven members per team, three singles and two doubles competitions. It’s going to be a chore for tennis coaches, like Head Coach Christa Halicki of Wadsworth to keep track of all the matches being played.

The Suburban League coaches have devised a way to include the regular season conference matches and Saturday’s event to crown an overall champion.

“The regular season dual matches count for 50% of your ranking. And how you do on Saturday at the Suburban League Championship, individually in your own bracket, will count for the other 50%”, said Halicki. “This will tell us how everything in the Suburban League will fall”.

“For example, Cameron Croghan, (Wadsworth’s number one singles player) will be in a bracket with other number one singles players. The same is true for the Number Two and Number Three singles players and the Number One and Number Two doubles teams”, said Halicki.

During the regular season, Wadsworth had a record of 5-2 in the Suburban League and 7-4 overall. This coming Saturday, we’ll see if the Grizzlies can take the Boys’ Tennis Championship in the final Suburban League season.
