Wadsworth Grizzly pawWadsworth’s Noah Baughman became a two-time state champion Saturday night at the Division One State Wrestling Tournament at the Schottenstein Center at Ohio State.

Wrestling at 120 pounds, Noah scored a majority decision (16-5) over Lamonte Chapman of Fremont Ross to win the state championship. Baughman finished the 2015-16 wrestling season with a record of 40-1.

Baughman won a state title in 2014. He finished third in the 2015 State Tournament. In the last three years at the State Tournament, Baughman suffered only one loss.

Joey Baughman, wrestling at 160 pounds, had a chance for a state championship as well. Kyle Lawson of Powell Olentangy Liberty defeated Baughman 6-0 in the championship match.

Two other Wadsworth wrestlers were in action Saturday. Alex Jones finished 5th at 170 pounds and Cody Surratt finished 7th at 152 pounds.

In the team standings, Wadsworth finished 7th in Division one with 61 points. Lakewood St. Edward won the State Title with 152 points.

Noah Baughman becomes the 20th state champion from Wadsworth with his victory on Saturday night.
