Both the Wadsworth Baseball and Softball teams are preparing for the Division One State Championships which begin next week.
First to baseball, Wadsworth will not have to make that trek to Hudson for their Division One Tournament games. This year, the Ohio High School Athletic Association moved the Grizzlies to the Barberton District and the Bowling Green regional.
Wadsworth is seeded first in the Barberton District. Copley is seeded number two, Medina is third and Highland is seeded number four.
The Grizzlies first tournament game is Thursday May 12th at 4:30 pm when they host the winner of the game between North Royalton and Akron Firestone. The Royalton/Firestone game will be played May 11th at North Royalton.
The Wadsworth Lady Grizzlies Softball team is seeded second in the Barberton District. Not since 1998 has Wadsworth been seeded this high in District play.
Walsh Jesuit is seeded first in the Barberton District, Wadsworth second, Brunswick third and Medina is fourth.
Last year, Walsh eliminated Wadsworth from the state tournament in the District semi-final round.
The Lady Grizzlies first tournament game will be on Tuesday May 10th at 4:30 pm when they host the winner of the Medina/Barberton game. That contest will be played on Monday May 9th
