Wadsworth Community Radio

Remember these things?  No?

Before there were ‘4G networks’ and ‘roaming charges’, there were these things.  The ‘pay-phone’.  Street corners and interstate rest-stops were lined with them.  Conscientious motorists usually carried a few extra quarters with them (or ‘dimes’, depending on where you’re situated within your AARP status!), just in case emergencies popped up, or if you were going to be late getting home from work.

Now, when we see one of these museum pieces, we chuckle.  “How could anyone send a text on that thing?” we ask, humorously.  Yet, it wasn’t that long ago that the pay-phone was the communication device.

Times change quickly, don’t they?

As we get things churned up at Wadsworth Community Radio, we try to make sure that we’re ‘up-to-date’ on all of the modern communication platforms.  We monitor the ‘Likes’ on our Facebook page.  We implore listeners to ‘Follow’ us on our Twitter accounts.  We use fancy terms like ‘streaming partners’ and ‘bit-rates’ and ‘bandwidth’, especially when we talk about our internet stream.  These things are necessary, and they’re fun!  If our listeners are involved with them, we want to be involved with them.  More importantly, as a modern communication entity, all of these aforementioned platforms are crucial to our survival.

Regardless of the ‘device’, though, our primary interest is on one thing: YOU.  Our focus is on the Wadsworth community.  Our desire is to try to get as deeply involved in this city as is possible.  We’ll try our best to feature as many topics about Wadsworth and the surrounding communities as we can.

Yes, ‘radio broadcasting’ has evolved just as dramatically as every other industry.  Some of the tools we used (like that box above) have been replaced by smaller and more compact devices, in order to make the ‘broadcasting’ process more immediate and gratifying.  But regardless of the device, whether online or over the airwaves, we’ll constantly do our best to super-serve the listener here in Wadsworth.

We’ll try to do our best to super-serve YOU.

And call us anytime.  We’ll always pick up.  Whether it’s on your iPhone 6, or on one of those metal-boxes at the rest-stop, if you can find one.  Don’t forget your quarter, though.
