24 Karrot Kitchen in Sharon Center teaming up with Stewart’s Caring Place to support cancer patients through food and knowledge – Wadsworth Community Radio

24 Karrot Kitchen is excited to partner with Stewart’s Caring Place to create a vital program — Nourish and Educate Initiative — empowering cancer patients and their families with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate their nutritional journey. The Nourish & Educate Initiative’s goal is to raise funds to provide access to nutritious food and essential education, directly supporting the health and well-being of the members of our local community affected by cancer.

“For years, I’ve been deeply inspired by the strength and resilience of individuals facing cancer,” said owner Kathleen Madden, MS Nutrition & Integrative Health Culinary Medicine Professional. “I’ve had the privilege of participating in three Susan G. Komen 3-Day Breast Cancer Walks in different cities and the lymphoma leukemia 100 mile bike ride. They were all incredible experiences which filled me with purpose and the profound feeling of contributing to an organization making a real difference.”

24 Karrot Kitchen, located inside Marigold Wellness in Sharon Center, is a coffee bar and cafe, open for breakfast and lunch Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

“This year, along with several dear individuals in my own community recently diagnosed with cancer, I felt a strong calling to focus efforts closer to home. My commitment to raising funds and offering unwavering support remains the same. However, I believe leveraging my educational background and culinary skills to provide direct nutrition education and resources within my own community, through a partnership with the wonderful Stewart’s Caring Place, makes more sense. It’s a way to channel my skills and passion to directly impact the lives of those I know and care about, offering practical help during an extremely challenging journey,” explained Madden.

Navigating a cancer diagnosis often brings significant dietary challenges and questions. Access to accurate nutritional information and healthy food options can greatly impact a patient’s strength, recovery, and overall quality of life. 24 Karrot Kitchen wants to change that experience with targeted nutrition education and accessible food resources by expanding on the existing pantry program.

“Through this fundraising campaign we aim to create a comprehensive program to provide the resources for healthy cooking classes, meal planning, and educational workshops on cancer-specific nutrition. In addition we will be including a gift card program to access nutritious, ready-made meals, soups, and smoothies from 24 Karrot Kitchen offering convenience and supporting dietary needs, especially when energy levels are low,” Madden said.

Your contribution, no matter the amount, will make a real difference in the lives of local cancer patients and their families.

Madden said, “We believe knowledge is power and this enhanced program will provide essential knowledge and practical support, easing some of the daily burdens and everyday challenges.”

Here’s some examples of how the generous donations will be used:

  • Special medically tailored cooking classes directly to the patients
  • Fresh local produce for hands-on group cooking classes
  • Gift cards for freshly prepared food at 24 Karrot Kitchen
  • Nutritious soups and broths

24 Karrot Kitchen is asking their initiative be shared with your friends, family, and professional networks. They are also seeking partnerships with local corporations who share their commitment to community health and well-being. You can reach out to 24 Karrot Kitchen if you’re interested in becoming a sponsor of their Nourish and Educate Initiative.

“Your generosity will provide comfort, support, and knowledge to those in our community facing cancer. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.”
