Wadsworth Grizzly pawThe Wadsworth Grizzlies will have a significant presence at the State Wrestling meet in Columbus. The Wadsworth Swim team had a top 15 finish at the State Meet.

WRESTLING:

The Wadsworth Wrestling team will take six wrestlers to the State Tournament this week at the Ohio State University.

In the Division One District meet at Perrysburg High School over the weekend, the Grizzlies had two champions crowned, Noah Baughman at 120 pounds and Joey Baughman at 160 pounds.

District runners-up were Cody Surratt at 152 and Alex Jones at 170. Qualifying to go to the state meet as fourth place finishers at the district were Luke Baughman at 132 and Clay McComas at 220. The Grizzlies sent 12 wrestlers to the district from the sectional held at Wadsworth High School.

The district meet was won by St. Edward with Elyria finishing second and Wadsworth finished third.

STATE SWIMMING MEET:

The Wadsworth Boys swimming team finished in 15th place in the Division One State meet over the weekend in Canton. The Grizzlies accumulated 38 points.

Wadsworth finished 8th in the finals in the 200 yard Medley Relay. Swimming for Wadsworth in the relay race were senior Jake Brumbaugh , junior Joe Pavlak, junior Anthony Loparo and senior Josh Zembas. Pavlak finished 8th in the finals of the 100 yard Breaststroke.

Brumbaugh, in the 100-yard backstroke and Wadsworth’s 200-yard freestyle relay team lost in the preliminary round.

Cincinnati St. Xavier won the Division One title with 398 points.
