Walking in Circles bandVibrant is how we’d describe the band members of “Walking in Circles.” Five of the six bandmates joined us in the studio Monday morning with their debut album, “Go.”

The band consists of Jake Gray (lead guitar), Ben Beheydt (keyboard/rhythm guitar), Kevin Herwerden (drums), Allison Wolf (bass/vocals/lead vocals), Blake Brouse (lead vocals) and Zach Shelly (auxiliary percussionist). And they all have varied tastes in music.

Influences include Stevie Nicks, Green Day, Meatloaf and beyond.

During our segment with the group, we played track 6 off of their debut album. “Full Moon” was written by Carrie Gray, the band’s momager (aka: manager) and features guitar shredding from Jake Gray and the sensational smoky tones of Allison Wolf singing the chorus, “I can hear them hunting for me…I can see they’re searching for me…”

Momager has spent the past couple of years convincing Allison of how talented she is. “She’s starting to sing out with more confidence and wanting to do more,” Carrie Gray said. “Her rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rhiannon’ is amazing!”

I agree. Allison’s voice blew me away in “Full Moon” and gave me goosebumps!

Even for being so early in the morning, the gang was revved up with jokes, creating a Goldie Locks and the Three Bears skit.

“When I joined the band, I wanted us to be a Green Day cover band,” said Allison.

“I wanted them to be behind me as I’m soloing on the piano,” Ben laughed.

“And I wanted them to be behind me as I’m soloing on the guitar and it turned out that way,” Jake exclaimed.

“We’re still going through vocalists,” the members joked with Blake, who played right along and said, “I’m just a temp!”

“Walking in Circles” is playing at The Strand Theater on April 25 from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Opening for them is The Scenic Route, a Canton-based band who won Battle of the Bands in Canton earlier this month. Tickets are $7. You can follow the band on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WalkingInCirlces.

The group plans to continue making music together in the future, but just aren’t sure yet what the genre of music on their next album will be!
