Wadsworth Grizzlies are Suburban League baseball champs – Wadsworth Community Radio

Wadsworth Community Radio

Wadsworth Grizzly pawThe champions of the Suburban League Baseball race are the Wadsworth Grizzlies!

On Wednesday, Wadsworth defeated Copley 5-4 on their home diamond to win the championship outright. The Grizzlies are 12-0 in the League with two games to play, while second-place Copley is 9-3.

It wasn’t a pretty win for Wadsworth, the fourth-ranked team in the state in Division One according to this week’s poll by the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association. Copley scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning before the Grizzlies were able to get the final out. Chris Byers got the win for Wadsworth.

It was another big game for Wadsworth senior shortstop Riley Campbell who had three hits and a run scored.

The Suburban League Champions are 20-0. Congratulations to Head Coach Greg Pickard and all the guys on the team.
