The City of Wadsworth has appointed Matthew Springer to the position of Economic Development Director.
Springer comes to Wadsworth with an extensive background in economic development, land use, redevelopment grants, public relations and successful implementation of strategic plans.
Springer begins his new position with Wadsworth on April 11.
Most recently, Springer served as the Economic Development Director for the City of Tallmadge, where he developed a Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Program, managed Property and Income Tax Programs, and served as the liaison for the Joint Economic Development District (JEDD). Springer also led efforts as the Director of Community and Economic Development for Copley Township where he implemented social media and obtained grant funding to assist with property enhancement. Additionally, as the founder and Executive Director of Copley Community Improvement Corporation, Springer led strategic site acquisitions and executed lease agreements.
Springer has also held several additional positions within Copley Township and has experience as the Planning Director for Copley Township as well as the Zoning Inspector. Within these positions, he conducted research, analyzed data, and ensured compliance with Ohio law.
“We interviewed several qualified candidates, and it was clear Matt brought the right combination of skills and experience that we were looking for. His excitement and passion for Wadsworth and the future of our community aligned well with our vision,” Mayor Robin Laubaugh said.
“I am incredibly honored to have been selected to help lead the city’s economic development efforts,” said Springer. “This is a great opportunity and I am excited to contribute to existing efforts while fostering new partnerships for the betterment of the residents and businesses of Wadsworth.”
