A new game show is hitting FOX tonight, and one of Wadsworth’s own will be competing for a chance at $1 million.
Michelle Sutton, owner of CrossFit330 in Wadsworth, is among the contestants on 99 To Beat, which premieres tonight (Sept. 24) at 9 p.m. The premise is simple: don’t come in last.
Contestants face off in quirky, fast-paced challenges designed to test strategy, endurance, and creativity. The last person standing walks away with a shot at the grand prize.
“The premise is these are all simple games, right? I use the word simple loosely, because when you put the pressure of the game: not being last, $1 million dollars, all of these lights on you, all of these cameras on you – the games become a little more challenging. Some of the games were luck and some of them were strategy.”
Sutton says being on the show was unlike anything she’s ever experienced. She couldn’t reveal how far she went in the competition, but she shared that the atmosphere was electric and full of energy.
“You never really felt like you got out of fight or flight mode because you were doing four challenges a day, six days a week,” Sutton explained. “They did not tell us when we were starting, there was not a countdown. There was no 3, 2, 1 go! We would be standing there maybe five minutes, maybe 30 seconds, 10 minutes and then all of a sudden the buzzer would go off and you were like, ‘oh my gosh, I wasn’t ready!'”
99 To Beat brings together people from all walks of life, and for Sutton, the friendships made with other contestants were just as rewarding as the competition itself.
Catch Michelle and the rest of the challengers tonight at 9 p.m. on FOX.
