The OHSAA has officially set voting dates for its emergency Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) proposal.

High schools across Ohio will cast their votes from November 17th through the 21st, with each school’s principal submitting the vote.

This comes after a student-athlete sued the OHSAA, leading to a judge’s temporary order blocking the state’s ban on NIL deals.

Right now, Ohio is one of just six states that doesn’t let high school athletes earn money from things like sponsorships, social media posts, or endorsements.

If schools vote yes, student-athletes could begin signing NIL deals under specific guidelines, allowing them to profit from their name, image, or likeness while keeping their eligibility.

If schools vote no, the issue could end up being decided in court.

The OHSAA says it’ll host webinars in the coming days to help schools understand the proposal before voting begins.
