It’s rivalry day: Ohio State vs. Michigan. The stakes are sky-high and the bragging rights even louder. “The Game” has fueled border-state tension since 1897, with Michigan holding the overall edge 62–52–6, though Ohio State has dominated the modern era, winning 17 of the last 24 matchups. Every year, it feels bigger than football. It’s tradition, legacy, and decades of intensity packed into four fierce quarters.

Playoff hopes, conference championships, and even old recruiting grudges often hang in the balance. Fan passion doesn’t just simmer, it boils.

Even the governors are in on the fun.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer have placed a friendly chip-for-chip wager ahead of kickoff. If Ohio State wins, Whitmer will ship over some of Michigan’s best: Better Made, Great Lakes Potato Chips, and Downey’s. If Michigan wins, DeWine will send Conn’s, Grippo’s, Jones’, Mikesell’s — plus Marsha’s Homemade Buckeyes for extra flair.

Both governors say they’re confident their side will come out on top. DeWine is all in with “Go Bucks!” and Whitmer fires back with “Go Blue!”

Ohio State is widely projected to win today’s game, both by analysts and by betting markets.

Win or lose, everyone knows one thing: this game doesn’t just shape a season — it defines a legacy.
