Sean Hutson, a Wadsworth attorney and Medina County native, has announced he is running for Ohio’s 66th House District, setting the stage for an open-seat race in 2026.

The announcement comes after Sharon Ray, a fellow Wadsworth Republican, confirmed she will not seek a fourth term. Ray has already endorsed Hutson, calling him a strong choice to continue representing the district, which includes most of Medina County.

Hutson says his campaign will focus on growing the local economy, supporting working families, cutting government red tape, and ensuring reliable and affordable energy for residents and businesses.

Raised in Medina County, Hutson now lives in Wadsworth with his wife, Laura. He is a small business owner, practicing attorney, and part-time assistant prosecutor, with experience in real estate, business, and local government law.

His campaign is already drawing support from several local leaders, including Medina County Commissioners Aaron Harrison, Colleen Swedyk, and Steve Hambley, along with Sheriff Terry Grice and Prosecutor Forrest Thompson.

Hutson plans to spend the coming months listening to voters across the district as the campaign gets underway.
