The Akron RubberDucks are leaning into local flavor this summer, announcing a special two-night rebrand as the “Akron Chip Dippers.” The change will take place on June 19 and June 20, as part of the team’s Only in Akron series.
The name pays tribute to northeast Ohio’s long love affair with Lawson’s chip dip, which has been a staple at Akron gatherings for the past 80 years.
RubberDucks President and General Manager Jim Pfander says the team is excited to celebrate a uniquely Akron tradition and invite fans to show off their favorite recipes.
A Chip Dippers ticket package is available for $45, including a game ticket and an Akron Chip Dippers adjustable hat. Packages are limited. Select Chip Dippers merchandise is already available online and in the team shop, with more items coming later.
