The Medina County Park District has begun planning a long-distance trail that would connect Brunswick, Medina, and Wadsworth, often being referred to as the BMW Trail.

Park District Director Nate Eppink tells the Medina Gazette the idea grew out of conversations with local leaders about alternative transportation and pedestrian routes. All three cities have agreed to contribute financially, with Wadsworth already committing $15,000, and agreements with Brunswick and Medina now moving forward.

The park district is preparing to hire a consulting firm to help design the trail, which is envisioned as a three-year planning project. Officials say the goal is to build on existing trail systems, including Brunswick’s Plum Creek Greenway, Medina’s Champion Creek Trail, and Wadsworth’s Interurban Trail.

Eppink says no land would be taken through eminent domain, emphasizing the project will be collaborative and community-focused, with public input guiding future development.
