Quick action by Wadsworth police officers and firefighters saved a woman’s life during an early morning house fire on Bent Creek Drive.
Wadsworth Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call around 2:20 a.m. on Jan. 30, reporting a fire inside a home on Bent Creek Drive. While first responders were en route, the caller told dispatchers she was unable to get out of the house on her own.
Wadsworth police officers arrived first and forced entry into the smoke-filled home. Despite heavy smoke conditions, officers were able to locate the woman and pull her to safety.
She was treated at the scene by EMS and transported to a local hospital. Her current condition has not been released.
The Wadsworth Fire Department was assisted in extinguishing the fire by Sharon Township, Rittman, Norton, and the Seville-Guilford Fire Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
City officials praised the coordinated response, crediting fast communication and teamwork for preventing a tragic outcome.
