It was a long and busy weekend for crews in Wadsworth after a water main break disrupted service for much of the city south of Broad and College Streets.
The break happened Feb. 14, prompting city crews to respond quickly to assess the damage and begin repairs. Because the affected line serves a large portion of the southern part of the city, officials also asked residents to conserve water while crews worked to stabilize the system.
City leaders urged households to limit water use temporarily to allow the Broad Street Water Tower to refill and maintain adequate pressure across the system. Conservation efforts help prevent additional strain during major repairs and ensure that emergency services and essential needs can continue without interruption.
Crews worked throughout the day Saturday to repair the break and restore normal operations. The city has since confirmed the damaged main has been repaired.
While water main breaks are not uncommon during winter months, especially with temperature fluctuations that cause ground shifting, they can require significant manpower and coordination to resolve quickly.
City officials thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the repair process.
