Two very different stories are highlighting animal welfare efforts across Medina County.
At Whispering Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary, staff are asking residents not to abandon animals on the property after several recent incidents. The nonprofit says goats, cats and roosters have been left without warning, creating potential health and safety risks for animals already in their care.
According to Cleveland.com, the sanctuary is urging people to reach out first so animals can be safely accepted and properly cared for.
Meanwhile, there’s some positive news from the Medina County Dog Shelter. Officials say the shelter did not euthanize a single dog in 2025.
The shelter took in 197 dogs last year and successfully placed every one, through adoptions, returns to owners, or transfers to rescue groups. It marks the second “no-kill” year for the facility in the past three years.
Together, the stories highlight both the challenges and successes of caring for animals across the county.
