A major new addition is coming to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, one designed especially for families.
The Cleveland Zoological Society has announced a $750,000 grant from the PNC Foundation to help create the zoo’s first-ever indoor play space. The new “PNC Adventure Playspace” will be part of the larger Primate Forest project, which is currently under construction. Primate Forest will transform the zoo’s former RainForest building into a reimagined, expanded experience, complete with a more unified campus and updated visitor entrance.
The indoor play space will feature a nature-inspired design, giving kids a chance to explore through hands-on, sensory play. It will also overlook the outdoor orangutan habitat, meaning families could catch a glimpse of the animals while children play.
Zoo leaders say the goal is to create a space that’s welcoming, engaging, and accessible year-round for the more than one million people who visit each year.
PNC has supported the zoo for more than 30 years, helping fund educational programs and membership initiatives.
