Sometimes the best reset isn’t a vacation, it’s just a quiet place to sit. A new survey of more than 3,000 people by A Mission for Michael looked at where Americans go when they need a break from the noise of everyday life. The results highlight simple, accessible places where people can pause, reflect, and recharge, no expectations, no distractions.
In Ohio, two northeast Ohio spots made the top five list. Coming in at No. 4 is Willard Park in Cleveland, described as a small but meaningful refuge in the middle of a busy city, where even a few minutes of stillness can feel restorative.
And at No. 5, the Akron-Summit County Public Library stands out as a place where visitors can simply sit and breathe. The study found that for many, the library offers a quiet environment where nothing is expected, just a chance to reset.
The survey also revealed how common that need is. More than 40 percent of people say they regularly feel overwhelmed and need to find a quiet place right away, while 80 percent admit they often sit in their car for a few extra minutes just to enjoy a moment of peace.
Experts say those small pauses can have a real impact. “Sometimes just sitting quietly for 20 or 30 minutes can help people feel calmer and more grounded,” said one mental health professional involved in the study. The takeaway? You don’t always need to go far to recharge, sometimes the best place is right in your own community.
