The Canton Police Department is reminding residents and visitors that juvenile curfew laws will be strictly enforced during this week’s Pro Football Hall of Fame festivities.
Enforcement will focus Friday evening during the city’s First Friday celebration downtown and along the Hall of Fame Grand Parade pre-parade route on Cleveland Avenue NW. Police say a significant law enforcement presence will be in those areas throughout the evening.
The juvenile curfew begins at 9 p.m. within Canton’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA), including Centennial Plaza. In all other applicable areas, including the parade route, the curfew begins at 11 p.m.
Additional security measures will also be in place at Centennial Plaza, including temporary fencing, staffed entry points with metal detectors, and restrictions on unaccompanied minors inside the gated area.
“Our goal is to provide a safe, family-friendly environment where residents and visitors can enjoy these signature community events,” Canton Police Chief John Gabbard said in a news release.
The Canton Police Department says the increased security and curfew enforcement are intended to protect youth, support parents and guardians, and help ensure a safe Hall of Fame weekend.
