The Wall That Heals is open through Sunday (Aug. 30) at Blue Tip Park in Wadsworth, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The Wall is available for viewing 24 hours a day through 2 p.m. Sunday. Group tours of both the Wall and the Mobile Education Center will also be offered Friday (Aug. 28) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Wall That Heals honors the men and women who served in the Vietnam War and includes the names of those who died in service.
A special “Light the Night” ceremony will take place at dusk this evening beside the Wall.
The ceremony will begin with remarks from a Gold Star Mother, followed by an invocation from Wadsworth Church of the Nazarene. Ed Zackery of the Medina County Veterans Service Office will serve as the guest speaker.
As part of the ceremony, the names of 33 deceased Vietnam veterans from Medina County will be read aloud, and veterans in attendance will also be recognized.
The evening will conclude with bagpipes and the playing of taps.
