The Cleveland Guardians will get a few extra days to rest before beginning their postseason run.
After winning the American League Central and earning the No. 2 seed in the American League, Cleveland receives a bye through the Wild Card round and advances directly to the American League Division Series.
The Guardians will open the ALDS at Progressive Field on Sat., Oct. 3, with Game 2 also in Cleveland on Mon., Oct. 5.
The series then shifts to the road for Game 3 on Wed., Oct. 7.
If necessary, Game 4 would be played Thurs., Oct. 8, with a deciding Game 5 back at Progressive Field on Sat., Oct. 10.
Start times have not yet been announced.
Cleveland will face the winner of the corresponding American League Wild Card series.
The first-round bye gives the Guardians several days to rest players and set their pitching rotation before postseason baseball returns to Progressive Field Saturday.
The Guardians also have several players receiving national recognition heading into October. Chase DeLauter, Foster Griffin, Parker Messick, Cade Smith and Gavin Williams were all named nominees for the 2026 All-MLB Team.
