Browns, Steelers Meet Thursday Night in Cleveland With Both Teams at 2-1

The Cleveland Browns are getting ready for a short-week showdown with one of their biggest rivals.

Cleveland hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday night at 8:15 p.m., with both AFC North teams entering the matchup at 2-1.

The Browns have some recent history working in their favor. Cleveland has won its last seven Thursday night games and nine straight Thursday night games at home. The Browns have also beaten Pittsburgh in each of the last four meetings played in Cleveland.

Head coach Todd Monken says there is still plenty to clean up despite Cleveland’s back-to-back wins.

Following Sunday’s victory, Monken pointed specifically to penalties and what he called “Browns hurting Browns.” Cleveland struggled with false starts and other mistakes that Monken said had not been showing up consistently in practice.

“It’s got to be fixed in a hurry with a short week,” Monken said.

The Browns are also continuing to develop chemistry between quarterback Deshaun Watson and a young group of receivers. Rookie Denzel Boston leads all NFL rookies with 195 receiving yards through three games, while fellow rookie KC Concepcion has 12 catches, tied for second among NFL rookies.

Watson enters Thursday looking for a third consecutive game with multiple touchdown passes and no interceptions.

Cleveland is also looking for its third straight win overall.
