An Amber Alert that began Monday in Jefferson County ended with the man sought in connection to a missing girl killed during a police shooting in Medina Township that night.

The Amber Alert was issued Monday afternoon (Nov. 11, 2024) when the girl’s father, Charles Ryan Alexander, who does not have custody of her, abducted her from a family member’s home after an argument.

Alexander’s vehicle was spotted by Brunswick police and a chase followed, until his vehicle was disabled by stop sticks on I-71 and Route 18.

Exactly what happened next – and what prompted police to shoot – is unclear, according to news outlets.

The 7-year-old girl is safe and was not harmed.
