If winter’s starting to feel a little long, Chippewa Lake has a cure to help you wake up.
The 16th Annual Chippewa Lake Polar Bear Jump returns Jan. 31, bringing brave jumpers, runners, walkers, and plenty of spectators to the Chippewa Lake Beach for one of the area’s most beloved winter traditions.
Hosted by the Chippewa Lake Lions Club Foundation, the event combines a cold-water plunge with a 5K fun run/walk, costumes, cheering crowds, and a whole lot of community spirit. It’s the foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Last year alone raised more than $77,000 for local charities and families in need.
Participants can take the plunge, run or walk the 5K, form a team, or just come out to watch the spectacle. There’s also a major charity raffle, sponsorship opportunities, and a post-event celebration at the Village Inn to warm up afterward.
Organizers say you don’t have to jump into the lake to be part of the fun, you can just show up and show your support. All proceeds stay in the community, helping food pantries, churches, and programs serving people with disabilities and families in need.
Registration and details are available through the Chippewa Lake Lions Club.
