medical record, chartOn Friday, the city of Wadsworth and the Wadsworth School Board announced the beginnng of a heroin and opiate abuse awareness program.

In the coming weeks, the campaign is designed to offer information, data and resources on heroin and prescription pill abuse. Both the city and the school board are encouraging Wadsworth residents to follow and participate in the campaign.

All involved are asking residents to log onto city, school and other social media sites to view the campaign letter. You can view the letter by going to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/WadsworthCommunityRadio.

Wadsworth School Superintendent Dr. Andy Hill admits that dealing with heroin and opiate addiction is a “complex issue. But, the first step is awareness. We want to use our communications mediums that are already in place and start with the awareness piece right now, while we study other things.”

Wadsworth Safety Director Matt Hiscock says the city wants to join forces with the School District to roll out consistent public service messages and access to public heralth information.

“We want to reach people of all ages from kids to parents to hopefully educate them on what to look for in friends and loved ones. Whatever we can do to create awareness.”
