The Medina County Commissioners are looking for ways to use $238,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds coming from the Federal Government.
It is anticipated that Wadsworth will receive the lion’s share of the federal funding. It is anticipated that the city will get $81,000 of the $238,000.
Rob Henwood, of the Medina County Planning Services Department, says the money will be used to repair eight homes of low-to-moderate income residents of Wadsworth.
The Federal money will be combined with $7,500 from the Community Housing Impact and Preservation program to bring the houses up to code. The city has not yet selected the homes that will be fixed up. Henwood says part of the requirement for Wadsworth to obtain the federal funds is for housing code compliance.
