The Medina County Health Department has started a new program to make Fentanyl Test Strips available to those dealing with substance abuse.

Medina County Health Commissioner Krista Wasowski says too many people in the County have died from a fentanyl overdose and she wanted to do something about it.

“For the last five years, 2018 through 2022, 131 of our 166 deaths have been fentanyl related. We’ve seen that infiltrating all sorts of places.”

The State Legislature recently permitted test strips to be used legally. To find out more about the program, visit www.medinahealth.org.

Before April 2023, the test strips were considered contraband.
