fireworksPlenty of time with the family to barbecue, swim or just be together this weekend as we celebrate our nation’s independence! Here’s the list of fun things to do:

Friday night is downtown Wadsworth’s spectacular fireworks display. Before they kickoff, bring a friend downtown and visit shops, eat great food and snag your fireworks spot. The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. Fireworks will start around 9:30 p.m. Info: http://bit.ly/1KA8EwM

Enjoy live music, exhibits, arts & crafts and more at the Canton Palace Theatre where you can also watch “The Goonies” for free at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

It’s the annual BalloonFest in Ashland, going on now through Sunday. Their schedule is jam packed with activities like hot air balloon fly-overs, balloon lift offs, music, children’s games and more. Best part? It’s free!

You could also choose a brand new tradition in downtown Akron at Canal Park. The stadium’s FOURTH ON THE FIELD is $5 and makes a great spot to watch downtown Akron’s fireworks Saturday night. Plus, you get to watch the movie “Shrek” on their videoboard.

This weekend, you can also get into the Maltz Museum in Beachwood for free. See the museum, explore the artifacts and baseball lore wrapped up in Chasing Dreams: Baseball & Becoming American, and test your skills in their outdoor batting cage.

Another place you can get in for free this weekend: the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland.

Here are just a few fun festivals taking place this weekend:

Akron Rib, White and Blue – where a Fleetwood Mac tribute band will be playing Friday night
New Philadelphia First Town Days Festival
Kent Heritage Festival
