The 5th annual memorial poker run, in honor of Greg North, is happening Saturday, August 23, beginning and ending at the Barberton Moose on 31st Street NW.
Registration begins at 11 a.m., with dinner at 5 p.m. All vehicles are welcome, and the ride features five fun stops, plus raffles, a silent auction, DJ, and cash bar.
Cost is $25 for drivers, $20 for passengers, and $15 for dinner only. Grab your tickets by scanning the QR code or texting NORTH25 to 53-555.
The Poker Run is the organization’s biggest fundraising event for The North Foundation. The funds raised go towards providing scholarships to four students pursuing a trade attending the Four Cities Compact Program, as well as providing Comfort Boxes and Joy Baskets to cancer patients at area Summa hospitals.
Greg North fought a courageous battle with leukemia beginning in 2013 before he died on April 22, 2020. His son and former Wadsworth wrestler, Michael, was a stem cell match for his dad and their emotional story captured in this heart-wrenching video is worth the watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQOzwiK-m4E
