Lady Grizzlies to play for District Volleyball Championship – Wadsworth Community Radio

Wadsworth Community Radio

The Wadsworth Volleyball team will play for the Strongsville Division One District Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Grizzlies knocked off North Royalton 3-games-to-1 in the District semi-finals Tuesday Night. Wadsworth will play Brunswick in the finals. Brunswick, seeded 5th, knocked off the top-seed Strongsville 3-2, winning the final set 16-14.

Kacie Evans dominated play for Wadsworth, whether it was on the front line by the net or in the back row. Evans scored seven straight points on her serve to break an 11-all tie and swing the momentum in favor of the Lady Grizzlies.

What made the victory even sweeter for Wadsworth was that North Royalton, a Suburban League rival, had defeated the Lady Grizzlies twice during the regular season.

Saturday’s game will be at Strongsville High School with the first serve at 2:30.
