working, business, groupWhile the upcoming Labor Day holiday is a very-well deserved day off for most people, it seems there are a lot of people that will actually be laboring on Labor Day.

According to a Bloomberg BNA survey of human resource professionals, while 97 percent of companies give their employees a paid vacation day on Labor Day, about 41 percent say that some of their staff will be forced to work over the holiday.

On the brightside, at least most of them are getting paid nicely for it. The survey found that 86 percent of employers will pay extra to workers forced to come in on Labor Day.

Twenty-seven percent of those polled say they give their employees time and a half, while 18 percent give them both extra pay and compensatory time, and 16 percent give them double time.

In fact, only nine percent of employers require their workers to work on Labor Day without providing them some sort of extra pay.
