For four families in Wayne County, a new home won’t just mean more space or stability, it’ll also mean finally being fully connected.

Through a new partnership, Brightspeed is teaming up with Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County to build four affordable homes, while also making sure those homes come equipped with reliable, high-speed internet.

It’s a small detail that makes a big difference.

In today’s world, everything from schoolwork and job applications to doctor visits and staying in touch with family happens online. And for families who’ve already been navigating housing challenges, that kind of access can be life-changing.

As part of the project, Brightspeed is contributing $10,000 and will connect each home to its fiber network, plus cover up to a year of high-speed internet service for the families moving in.

One of those future homeowners is Wooster resident Natalie Ray, a single mom of four who’s been balancing two jobs while dealing with overcrowded living conditions. Her new three-bedroom home is designed to give her family more room, and more opportunity.

For her, this isn’t just about a house. It’s about a fresh start.

Local leaders say partnerships like this are becoming more important as communities look beyond basic needs and focus on long-term success. Safe housing is step one, but access to technology is quickly becoming just as essential.

Construction is already underway, and for these families, the foundation being built goes far beyond bricks and walls, it’s about connection, stability, and a better path forward.
