Ohio’s attorney general wants the state to take the lead in a class action lawsuit against Roblox, accusing the gaming company of misleading investors about how well it was protecting children on its platform.

Attorney General Andy Wilson filed a motion seeking lead-plaintiff status on behalf of two of Ohio’s largest public pension systems, the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System and State Teachers Retirement System.

The lawsuit alleges Roblox promoted its platform as a safe, family-friendly place for children while failing to provide adequate protections against online predators and sexual content. Those claims are allegations and have not been proven in court.

For Ohio, there’s also a significant financial piece to the case. The attorney general’s office says OPERS and STRS lost a combined $21.5 million on Roblox investments between October 2024 and April 2026.

The lawsuit claims the extent of the problems became clearer after regulatory actions led Roblox to add mandatory age verification and limits on communication between adults and minors. According to the AG’s office, Roblox later lowered its annual revenue projection by $1 billion, and its stock dropped 18 percent, wiping out roughly $6 billion in market value.

Wilson says the state is seeking to recover losses for Ohio’s pension funds and hold the company accountable.

The case is pending in federal court in California. Roblox and three of its executives are named as defendants.
