Ohio Magazine said Wadsworth was chosen for its inviting downtown, strong sense of community and forward-looking local leaders.
“We are ecstatic to be recognized as one of Ohio’s Best Hometowns,” said Mayor Robin Laubaugh. “Wadsworth has so much to offer. Residents enjoy a high quality of life including excellent recreational opportunities, exceptional schools and library, and progressive city services. So many give so much to make Wadsworth the unique city that it is. There’s a commitment to community here that you don’t see elsewhere. Wadsworth is a wonderful place to call home.”
Wadsworth offers convenient access to excellent health care, outstanding schools, a variety of professional services, and popular shopping opportunities, as well as many locations in which to relax, stay healthy, and have fun.
“It was a thrill to meet with the Ohio Magazine team and to share Wadsworth’s story,” Main Street Wadsworth Executive Director Adrianne Patrick said. “I think they walked into nearly every downtown business and spent the entire day here. They took the time to get to know Wadsworth and were genuinely interested in our downtown’s revitalization, small businesses, First Fridays, grant programs, art murals, and everything that makes our downtown a unique destination. We are so grateful for this award and congratulate the other recipients as well.”
To determine this year’s honorees, Ohio Magazine solicited nominations in the spring and visited communities across the state over the summer. The editors evaluated finalists in six categories: Community Spirit, Education, Entertainment, Health and Safety, Business Environment, and Culture and Heritage — to help make their selections.
More will be shared about why each hometown is a great place to live, work and visit in Ohio Magazine’s Nov./Dec. 2021 and July/Aug. 2022 issues!
