A portion of Route 224 in Akron into Barberton will officially be renamed after fallen Akron officer Justin Winebrenner.
Family and friends of the Wadsworth native will join politicians to dedicate the stretch of highway in Winebrenner’s memory. The road-naming ceremony begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at Akron City Council.
Winebrenner was off duty when he was killed in November at an Akron bar.
He was 32 years old.
