An 11-hour citywide power outage left Wadsworth in the dark Monday afternoon, after a utility pole fire knocked out service around 2 p.m.
City crews and FirstEnergy teams worked through the evening, replacing the damaged pole and beginning a controlled restoration just before midnight. Power was fully restored around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 28).
The outage impacted homes, traffic lights, and several local businesses. Roots Yoga canceled classes, while the Wadsworth Public Library was forced to close early. Valley Café also remained closed today, citing food safety concerns following the extended loss of refrigeration during the outage.
City officials thanked residents for their patience as line crews worked safely to restore power. No injuries were reported.
The city’s water and sewer services were not impacted as both were running on backup generator power.
