A loss of a pet can be heart-breaking. Many wish they had a way to honor and remember that relationship.

The Rainbow Bridge Walk on Sunday, September 17, provides an opportunity for pet owners who have lost a pet over the years to come and pay tribute to their pets and the love they shared.

This special event will take place at Medina’s Buckeye Woods Park, 6335 Wedgewood Rd. (State Route 162) in Lafayette Township in Medina, with sign-in starting at 12:15 pm, followed by remembrance activities, and the program starting at 1 pm. Admission is free.

Anyone who has lost a pet is encouraged to attend. “It is comforting for attendees to be with others who understand the loss,” said Char Arthur, founder of the Rainbow Bridge Walk.

The walk over the bridge at the park symbolizes the pet’s walk to a wonderful new home after it passes away and awaits its reunion with its owner.

Attendees should feel free to bring other pets, but they should be on a non-retractable leash at all times. The event features a pet blessing, reflection, various remembrance activities, and refreshments in addition to a short Tribute Walk.

Those pre-registering online will be entered into raffles. Same-day registration is available. For more information, to complete the registration form, and to submit an online pet tribute, visit www.rainbowbridgewalk.com.
