STATE ROUTE 94 SIGN JJOne of the last phases of the State Route 94 repaving project through the city of Wadsworth is getting started this week.

Wadsworth Service Director Robert Patrick says starting tonght, the ‘top coat’ of asphalt will be put down by contractors. Work crews will begin the resurfacing at the southern end of Route 94 at the City-Township border and will continue to northern end at the Wadsworth-Sharon Township border. If the weather cooperates, Patrick believes the resurfacing could be completed by Saturday. .

“Work crews will be working at night” says Patrick. “That means work can start at 7 pm and can continue until 7 am. Crews will also put down temporary striping on the road. They will come back in a couple of weeks to make the temporary striping permanent”.

This past Friday, work crews repaved a portion of State Route 94 near the Wadsworth-Wadsworth Township border to allow inspectors from the Ohio Department of Transportation and the City of Wadsworth to examine what the finished product will look like.

The resurfacing project began back on August 10th and is has a scheduled completion date of October 31st.

“Since the first coat of asphalt was installed, the contractor has been busy repairing water boxes, catch basins and castings in the road” said Patrick.
When asked if the city learned anything during this resurfacing project, Patrick said “we learned that the people of Wadsworth have great patience. Even with the work being scheduled at night, we had hardly any phone calls. Residents had a grasp of the big picture. We had a lot of compliments from residents when the first layer of asphalt was put down. I think a lot of people appreciate that the work was done this year”.

At lest one lane of traffic on 94 will be kept open at all times by flaggers.
