Wadsworth firefighters and four neighboring departments were called to the scene of a house fire at 918 Longbrook Drive Tuesday afternoon.
The Wadsworth Fire Department first received the call around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon after the homeowner reported that a motorcycle in the attached garage had caught fire. Wadsworth Assistant Fire Chief Robert Linder said, “I observed heavy black smoke on my way to the house, so I called for mutual aid.”
Chippewa, Rittman, Seville and Sterling Fire Departments sent equipment and personnel to the scene. Firefighters finally extinguished the flames around 3 p.m., but they remained on the scene to deal with some hot spots. The heat from the fire was so intense that the siding to the east of the home was damaged.
Assistant Chief Linder described the damage to the home as “significant.” There were no injuries reported. Everyone made it out of the home without incident. A damage estimate is not available.
Linder expects to know more about the exact cause in a few days.
