A new survey finds 55% of women in Ohio say they feel mentally overwhelmed at least a few times a month, an estimated 2.66 million adult women statewide.
The survey, conducted by AMFM Mental Health Treatment, included more than 3,000 women nationwide and looked at the mental load tied to work, money, household responsibilities, parenting, health and caregiving.
Nationally, 69% of women surveyed said they feel mentally overwhelmed at least a few times a month. Money and finances were the biggest source of stress, cited by 37% of respondents.
The survey also found 72% of women have hidden how overwhelmed they felt because they did not want others to worry or felt they needed to keep everything running. Half said they had delayed getting help for their mental well-being because they did not have time.
Women also reported putting off sleep, exercise, medical appointments and time with friends to keep up with other responsibilities.
Ohio ranked 31st nationally in the survey.
